In honor of my return to school — something I haven’t done in years — I decided it would be appropriate to do a couple of other things I haven’t in years, play Half-Life 2, and write an article. In this piece, my aim is not to comment so much on the design aspects of the game itself — it’s been out for over 7 years, some things will undoubtedly have not aged well — instead, I’m speaking more to the experience of playing the game now compared to when it launched. I realized today that, lately, I’d been spending an unhealthy amount of time on Twitter. Never was that made more clear than when my phone went off on three separate occasions during a placement test this morning due to having simply been mentioned. Sure, I could turn off notifications, but the disturbance wasn’t the issue. The realization that I now have more important things to focus my time on than whether or not I can fit a Chris Brown joke into 140 characters was.
Moving forward, I will no longer be sending out my politically incorrect thoughts into the Twittersphere. Instead, I feel it would be a more productive waste of time if I updated this site with said thoughts, and made it more like the blog it’s, to this point, only pretended to be. So, if you’re interested in my thoughts on things, bookmark this page, and look for my new YouTube channel soon, as well.
